Asia is a region of immense diversity marked by vast economic differences, social dynamics, complex histories, and religious traditions that predate Christianity. It is against this multi-faceted backdrop that we have been observing a vibrant growth of the Christian faith. Pentecostals are a significant part of this story, as the Holy Spirit continues to move among spiritually hungry people across the region. Strengthening the theological and spiritual foundations of this expanding movement has been a central motivation of the Global Pentecostal Voices initiative.
Asian Voices Amplified demonstrates a constructive collaboration fostered by the Holy Spirit, where established Pentecostal scholars from around the world engage with emerging Asian scholars, giving voice to fresh perspectives and insights from the region. Together, they catalyse a new and spirited ethos of Pentecostal discernment that seeks to sustain the growth, depth, and health of Christianity in Asia.

The theological perspectives conveyed in Asian Voices Amplified offer profound and pastoral explorations into the Holy Spirit’s work in uniting us to Jesus Christ and his mission to every people in every culture. In a day in which the world, and the church, seem more polarized than ever, these essays remind us that the Spirit of Pentecost speaks the Gospel in all our native tongues. As this volume depicts, there is much hope for the whole church to find in the fresh wind of the Spirit blowing around the world through the Pentecostal tradition.
M. Craig Barnes, President Emeritus, Princeton Theological Seminary
Global Pentecostalism has high ambitions for itself. This volume, which brings together a worldwide presentation of major voices with the movement, shows that these ambitions are leading to theological action. The essays here do not hesitate to address many of the major questions that not just Pentecostalism, but the global church must address in our time, ranging from theology to psychology to spirituality to practice. The format is particularly helpful, with proposals being made and then being examined by respondents.
Stanley E. Porter Ph.D. , President and Dean, Professor of New Testament, McMaster Theological College, Ontario
“They were all together in one place” (Acts 2:1). This scriptural vision of Pentecost captures the richly diverse perspectives found within Asian Voices Amplified. The articles in this volume are not merely descriptive of important theological issues within the Pentecostal movement but are multidisciplinary and dialogical expressions of the ongoing work of theological reflection—a movement of the Spirit between scripture, theological scholarship, church traditions, and the global and digital contexts of 21st C. Pentecostal Christianity. This volume fills a much-needed space in contemporary theological discourse on global Christianity both in the depth of its content and through the interactions of its authors within the academy and the local church.
Frank Yamada PhD, Executive Director, The Association of Theological Schools and The Commission on Accrediting, Pittsburgh
Asian Voices Amplified provides clear evidence that quality theological reflection is thriving in the Global South. These Pentecostals voices are thorough in their scholarship and deeply rooted in cultures where strong minds and passionate hearts are required to represent Christ’s Kingdom with care and confidence. The larger family of faith traditions within Global Christianity will be strengthened by the theological insights provided in Asian Voices Amplified.
