A Phenomenological Study of Asian Global Leaders
Dr David Park has touched on a very important issue in the Intercultural/Cross-cultural leadership space, that is, the necessity to understand and integrate cultural intelligence from diverse perspectives. The careful exploration of cultural intelligence in leadership from Asia perspective adds an important missing voice to leadership research and literature. This book is an important contribution to leadership practices, leadership development and inter-cultural/cross-cultural leadership in general. I highly recommend it.
Dr Joshua Bogunjoko, Lausanne Global Director of Regions, Former SIM International Director
This short book, based on research conducted by Dr David Park, explores how organizational cultural intelligence enhances Asian leadership skills and abilities particularly in a global executive context. It covers both the conceptual aspect of cultural intelligence and how it applies to actual lived experiences and learned resilience among Asian global leaders. This study highlights practical steps for improving global leadership development in a multi-cultural team.
Dr Patrick Fung, Global Ambassador, OMF International
Cultural intelligence is greatly needed in organisational leadership. Without it cultural differences and stereotypical assumptions can hinder an organisation’s life and growth. David Park’s research contributes deeper understanding of this area and gives guidance on the way forward.
Dr Graham Beynon, Head of Local Ministries (Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches, UK); Visiting Lecturer (Oak Hill College, London, UK)

This book is a significant achievement that highlights the journey of Asian leaders in international organizations, who have often been overlooked. It provides a thorough exploration of cultural factors and leadership development, offering valuable insights and lessons. In today's globalized world, this book serves as a crucial guide for anyone looking to encourage and support Asian leaders in multicultural international organizations.
Dr KyungNam Park, International Director of WEC International
Dr David Park’s book, Culturally Savvy Global Leadership based on his doctoral dissertation, is a timely short work on global leadership. In this age where the Church is increasingly from the global south, Park wrestles with the process of recruiting, mentoring and training of the next generation of Asian leaders to lead the NGOs of the 21st century. This is a book that both novices and experienced NGO leaders will find invaluable in thinking through this process. I highly recommend the book.
Dr David Cashin, Emeritus Professor of Intercultural Studies and Islamics at Columbia International University
Dr Park offers a research‐rich exploration of the importance of cultural intelligence in leadership, with a unique focus on Asian leaders operating in a global context. This fresh perspective on a familiar topic is a must‐read for Asian leaders seeking to grow in their own cross‐cultural leadership and for managers interested in developing diverse leadership in their organizations.
Dr Christina M Walker, Assistant Professor of Leadership, Lenoir‐Rhyne University, USA
Fascinating research on 'Cultural Intelligence'. Main dimensions are well defined considering Asian perspective. However, though David argued from Asian perspective, I found it very helpful as an African leader involved in Christian Mission and Theological Education. Dr Park writes the need for integrating experiential learning and cultural intelligence as the vital process. He also added an excellent piece of application to the global leaders who involve in business. I highly recommend with my sincere appreciation of the work and my dear brother Dr David Park.
Dr Worku H Mohammed, Lecturer in Islamic Studies and Mission at Ethiopian Graduate School of Theology (EGST); Former SIM Regional Director for East and Central Africa
In the context in which it is hard to deal with the importance of the interrelationship between culture and leadership based on the global background, the author approach the issue in a highly developed perspective with rich knowledge and exclusive information. This methodology provides a deeper understanding upon various ideas in relation to the leadership as well as culture, raising further questions. It is substantial for those who want to study this area to explore this dissertation, therefore, I strongly recommend such people to read and look into this academic achievement for more growth.
Rev Dr Seongho Cho, Professor of Theology, Dean of Planning Office, Seoul Theological Seminary
